Rosewood is a general term used for a collection of timbers of similar figure, and was particularly popular in Empire and Victorian furniture.
Commonly a dark brown or reddish brown wood, with prominent darker streaks.
All rosewoods are strong, hard and heavy, and can easliy be finished to a high luster.
