Rosewood is a general term used for a collection of timbers of similar figure, and was particularly popular in Empire and Victorian furniture.
Commonly a dark brown or reddish brown wood, with prominent darker streaks.
All rosewoods are strong, hard and heavy, and can easliy be finished to a high luster.
Walnut wood
Walnut is the primary hardwood for some of the finest antique furniture.
The wood is moderately heavy, very strong, and exceptionally stable.
The colour varies from light gray-brown to dark purplish-brown, patterns from plain to highly figured.
The wood is readily polished and develops a rich patina that grows more lustrous with age.
