Antique king size mahogany sleigh

Extreemly rare antique king size mahogany sleigh bed c1880. The colour in the mahogany is rich and deep and the bed is very sturdily and beautifully made. This bed has one decorative side rail and one plain side rail because it's original use would have bed as a "lit coin"(to be used in a corner).

Most of the antique wood beds in this section originate from Southern France, and date from the 19th century.
The design of these bedsteads are revivals of earlier styles, occasionally combining several styles in the same bed.
It is this combination of classical designs, larger sizes and craftsmanship that make 19th century beds so popular today.
